I have always been a happy Alpine customer until my experiences with the IVA-205. Till then, they made good sounding lower end decks, and amazing sounding higher end decks with lots of processing. When they got into the integrated video/bluetooth/nav head units, they had problems. Most Alpine-philes know this. The IVA-205 had the separate/removable internal nav unit. This caused unreliability issues with the nav (blank screen for nav, basically the nav unit could not effectively communicate with the head unit). It almost made me purchase my first non-Alpine head unit in over 2 decades. Then I heard about the new INE line from Alpine. Waited till a local shop had one on the show board, and was blown away.Visual Interface: Alpine visual user interface looked dated when it came out. When Pioneer, Kenwood, etc were pumping out sexy user interfaces with sexy splashes and visuals, alpine was still in the 90's... In my vehicle, a 2 day job. I'm a perfectionist and to even get the unit to fit exactly right and adjust the Toyota brackets took hours. Need good tools to get the job done. Mine looks like a factory install with the Metra single DIN face plate kit which I had to cut and glue. I'm used to my Android phone with voice recognition but I'm pushing buttons again going down the road. 4 out of 5 stars with voice recognition on the wishlist.Pros: solid unit, all components are of good quality, does everything as advertised. Cons: slow processor, no crisp screen changes, it's sluggish but acceptable for the price. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful do it, By This review is from: INE-S920HD - Alpine In-Dash 6.1" GPS Navigation Receiver with Bluetooth (Electronics) i think this is probably the fastest head unit out there right now after seeing other units like pioneer and kenwood i had to go with this unit alpine has really revamped the nav part of it as well so far i cant even say anything bad about it the way it splits your music and nav is completely awesome the other guy who wrote the last review really nailed it it was really helpful in my decision do it |
