5.0 out of 5 stars Best Navigation Unit Ever!, June 14, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Regular KW-NT500HDT Automobile Audio/Video GPS Navigation System (Electronics)
Alright, where to start; this unit is AWESOME! I am also a proud owner of the original navigation headunit by JVC, the KW-NT1, which is still running strong after 4+ years. As i expected, this unit has loads of improvements over the older models, and all of the features are very robust and user-friendly.
MY SETUP DETAILS:
- Installed on a 2008 Honda Accord 4dr EX-L V6 Auto, with Premium Audio and 6-CD changer (now removed). I purchased a Scosche HA1707DCDGB Custom Honda double-din Dash Plate to fit my car.
- I purchased Metra 70-1730 Wiring Harness for Factory-Amplified 2008+ Honda (only for cars with premium audio). I also bought Metra 70-1729 Wiring Harness Non-Amplified version, just in case, and it turned out to be a good thing; i stole two pins from this to add Steering Wheel Controls to the Amplified harness.
- I got the Metra 40-HD10 2005+ Honda Antenna Adapter, which works great, and i have no issues with weak antenna signal.
- For the responsible and... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars great, May 31, 2012
This review is from: Regular KW-NT500HDT Automobile Audio/Video GPS Navigation System (Electronics)
I love this head unit. Very fast at booting up. GPS lock is on really fast as well. Traffic updates are a nice touch when your in a total traffic network. The GPS also has a set of known traffic cameras and will warn you as you near one. HD radio is extremely clear and you see the title of the song, artist, and sometimes the album artwork. The siriusXM is a nice touch. So many options for entertainment from it. IPod integration is simple, if you just want to play music, I heart radio, or pandora, you just need a normal iPod cable to the USB port. The special cable is for video.
I have a backup camera hooked up and if you use the wire taps for the reverse light, the screen changes straight to it.
Only negatives I have for the unit is that I can't find an option to make u-turns illegal. I live in New Jersey and every u-turn is illegal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feature rich and iPhone 5 Compatible!!, October 22, 2012

This review is from: Regular KW-NT500HDT Automobile Audio/Video GPS Navigation System (Electronics)
After buying an iPhone 5 I decided that I wanted to upgrade my car stereo/GPS experience, by finding a head unit that would handle GPS Navigation, as well as connection to my iPhone 5. After doing a painful amount of research, it was apparent that since the iPhone 5 had changed it's connection to the new Lightning connector, it caused all manner of incompatibilities with various in dash GPS and car stereo systems.
But I'm happy to report that this unit works flawlessly with the iPhone 5 running iOS 6 both through it's USB connection, and through Bluetooth Wireless as well!
I was able to connect the new Lightning to USB cable from right into the supplied USB port and all iPod functionality worked. I was able to sift through playlists, and completely control the iPhone 5, no problem. I was also able to use Pandora through USB as well, without any issues.
With Bluetooth, same thing. Although I could not search through playlists, I was able to get a display of the... Read more
