I had the AV60BT installed three weeks ago in a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, replacing the factory Infinity head unit. I did not replace the factory amplifier or any of the nine factory speakers. Although I have considerable installation experience, I had a local dealer do this one (simply did not have the time). I'm sure I'll discover more but for now here are a few thoughts / comments for those thinking about the JVC AV line.

Comparisons
I pretty much looked at all of the brands (Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer, Sony, Clarion) within my the price range (roughly less than $500 installed). Other than decent sound, Bluetooth, USB input (MP3 256kbps minimum), double-DIN, some equalization control, and decent looks, I wasn't really looking for anything out of the ordinary. Since I was using my factory amplifier, power wasn't a big issue but almost all of the brands had 50 watts X 4 anyway. All of the above brands made the cut although some reviewed better than others. Mostly the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Update Firmware As Soon as you purchase..., June 15, 2012
This review is from: JVC DVD-CD-USB 6.1" Screen Bluetooth KWAV60BT (Electronics)
I paid $280 shipped from an online retailer but would have been comfortable paying MSRP for the quality of the product. I like my trusty Garmin so NAV isn't at all necessary. My Verizon phones were unusable over Bluetooth before the update, I could barely be heard on the other line, echos, static, a total failure. After the firmware update, I had to turn down the mic volume to 1 because I was too loud - clear no echos - night and day.

FYI Nissan Pathfinder, microphone mounted on behind the steering wheel, great results.

One quirky annoying part is if you connect your iPhone while the head unit is running it automatically starts playing your library - terrible oversight here especially if you just want to charge your phone while listening to the radio you have to manually switch it back. Maybe they'll fix that in the next update. The color options are great, although I just went with white rather than matching one of the many different greens in my... Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)

I purchased this unit for 2003 trailblazer. I bought the I phone cable seperatly. Without that cable or having an I phone this prob wouldn't be a purchase I would consider. That being said

Pros integration
I'm able to use I phone to watch u tube videos, music videos, pandora shows the album cover and data. I also use motion x gps program from the I tunes store. This transforms my jvc into a nav that actually works pretty damn good. Actually may have one of the nicer looking maps I've seen on gps. And since it's an app it's upgradable. There was a hidden $25 cost there if I wanted to control motion x from the screen instead of using I phone. I purchased that but was not happy it was hidden cost. I also downloaded MOG on I phone. I can listen to any song I want when I want and even dl it immediately. I also installed a rear cam, soon as I shift to reverse my screen auto flips to my rear camera. Picture is great.

The sound. It has 3 sets pre outs. The sub out... Read more
