The most frustrating part of this purchase was that I bought a product that needed a firmware update and it took a lot of time and energy to get the issue resolved and JVC was reluctant to correct the issue in a satisfactory manner.

So here is the story... First off the radio was $60 more when I purchased it just 2 months ago. I paid roughly $280 for it. Second of all as stated by a couple other users there is/was a glitch with this radio and some vehicles. What happens is that once every 1-2 weeks the stereo would just not turn on at all. Turning off the car and turning back on would do nothing and the radio would appear to be dead. I initially thought it was a wiring problem and that I had made a mistake. So I tore apart my dash a good 8-10 times trying to figure out what the problem was. Everytime when I would try the radio again after disconnecting the wiring harness it would start right up but lose all my settings, clock time, radio stations. So everytime this... Read more

i have had this radio for a little over a week now and it has crashed 3 times now. its very frustrating resetting all of my stations, audio settings and display settings every few days. i have triple checked all of my wiring and ground so im not sure what is causing the problem. i have a repair/replace request sent out to jvc to try and remedy the problem. other than that the radio seems to be ok, it has a lot of options for its price.

update: after several week with this radio and resetting all of my settings a grand total of 26 times (yes i kept count) i have given up. after many communications with jvc i have decided to part ways with this radio. the problem with the radio is that apparently my vehicle takes too long to crank. jvc said there is an update for this problem but it must be returned to them for an update. unfortunately, the closest repair facility to me is an hour and a half away. jvc wont pay for shipping to and from said facility and they wont exchange it... First, just a few months ago, I paid $100 more for the SAME item here on Amazon. We started having problems with it crashing constantly, and it turns out, JVC has a KNOWN ISSUE. A firmware update seems to fix it. However, the only way you can get it is to send the radio to New York, and it will cost over $60!!!

That is NONSENSE!!! The problem isn't with the buyer, it's with JVC!!!!

I will NEVER buy another JVC product ever again!!!

(Can't give it zero stars, unfortunately!)

UPDATE: I talked with customer service, and the rep basically said, "Too bad, so sad, but if you want it fixed, send us the money!!" I told her that this is no way to treat customers who purchase their products. The problem is with JVC...NOT the customer. And, the "fix" is ONLY available in NY...not at any of the local service centers, and it is not available via download from their website. She would not relent..."We still have to be paid for working on the... Read more
